Azerbaijan Sends Note to Russia on Termination of ‘Russian House’ Activities

Baku: Azerbaijan has officially informed Russia of its decision to terminate the activities of the ‘Russian House,’ the representative office of ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ in Azerbaijan. This move is based on the absence of legal registration for the organization within Azerbaijan and violations of Azerbaijani legislation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijani government decided to suspend the operations of the ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ agency, paralleling a similar decision made regarding the US Agency for International Development (USAID). An official notification has been delivered to the Russian government concerning this decision.

Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the operations of such organizations within Azerbaijan are governed by national legislation, reciprocity between countries, and bilateral agreements. The note verbale, which was sent on February 3, 2025, formally communicated the termination of the ‘Russian House’ activities to the Russian authorities.

This decision by Azerbaijan underscores a commitment to ensuring that foreign organizations operating within its borders adhere to national regulations. The Azerbaijani side anticipates that Russia will take the necessary actions following this development.
