Baku: An analysis will be conducted on 'green construction' and 'green building,' and legislation will be improved, APA reports. Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has signed an order to initiate this process.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, and the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives, is tasked with analyzing urban planning and construction legislation. This analysis will include studying international experiences and submitting proposals to improve normative legal acts to the Cabinet of Ministers within four months. The goal is to incorporate "green construction" and "green building" approaches to mitigate climate change impacts in cities, aligning with the Action Plan approved by Order No. 912 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on declaring 2026 the 'Year of Urban Planning and Architecture' in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This order is effective immediately upon signing.
