Azerbaijan’s “Yay Fest” Promotes Youth Engagement and Environmental Awareness

Baku — The 6th week of the “Yay Fest” youth festival, a vibrant and educational gathering that has drawn over 2,000 participants, concluded recently in Azerbaijan, emphasizing environmental consciousness and social development among young people.

According to Trend News Agency, the festival, conducted in a tent camp format under the motto “Together Towards a Greener Future!,” aligns with Azerbaijan’s state youth policy which aims to foster development, provide enjoyable activities, and promote unity and socialization among youth from various regions. This year’s focus was particularly significant due to the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” declared by President Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijan’s upcoming role as host of the prestigious COP29 event.

The latest camp, which ran from August 19 to 23, offered a mixture of ecological games, panel discussions, and outdoor activities that were both entertaining and instructive. Participants enjoyed the opportunity to interact with well-known bloggers, engage in teamwork challenges, and explore nature through hikes and organized outdoor events. These activities not only enriched their leisure time but also enhanced their personal and professional growth.

Contributions from the IDEA Public Association and experts from the Azerbaijani COP29 operating company introduced the youth to intensive trainings on sustainable development, environmental protection, and climate change mitigation. Such initiatives are designed to boost environmental awareness and encourage a responsible approach to ecological issues among participants.

“Yay Fest” continues to offer a dynamic environment filled with numerous entertainment and educational opportunities, supported by various organizations including the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the CAVAN Youth Movement Public Association.
