Baku Hosts Tenth Trilateral Meeting of Foreign Relations Committees of Azerbaijan, Trkiye, and Georgia

Baku: The tenth trilateral meeting of the foreign relations committees of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Trkiye, and Georgia was convened on February 24. Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Ties, initiated the event by discussing the prospects for cooperation between the three nations, emphasizing regional peace, renewable energy advancements, and legislative harmonization.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Seyidov highlighted Azerbaijan's new regional realities, including restoration work in Karabakh and East Zangezur, and shared views on Trkiye hosting COP31, Azerbaijan's international influence, and future developments in green energy, transport, and communications. He reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to regional stability and expressed confidence in strengthening trilateral cooperation through the meeting.

Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Trkiye's Grand National Assembly, underscored the significance of the event for parliamentary diplomacy and regional solutions. He emphasized Trkiye's commitment to South Caucasus peace and normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations. Oktay also addressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, the 'Trump Route,' regional projects, and the need for diversification in energy and transport sectors amid geopolitical changes.

Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of Georgia's Foreign Relations Committee, stressed Tbilisi's commitment to the trilateral format and peaceful conflict resolution. He linked peace with economic growth, citing Georgia's economic development. Samkharadze also discussed tourism and economic cooperation, highlighting projects like Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars.

Arzu Naghiyev, head of the Milli Majlis working group on inter-parliamentary ties with Georgia, described the meeting as crucial for deepening strategic partnerships, focusing on energy security, transport corridors, and information security.

The meeting highlighted parliamentary friendship groups as "soft power" in interstate relations, enhancing legislative experience exchange and regional project frameworks. Deputies from the three countries, including Mehmet Gzelmansur, Irakli Shatakishvili, and Nigar Arpadarai, discussed trilateral meetings' significance, COP31, AI and technology, environmental protection, and cybersecurity.

The event was attended by members of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Ties, and foreign relations committees from Turkish and Georgian parliaments, along with other officials.
