Baku: On November 16, a panel session titled Climate for Culture was held in Baku, organized by the Group of Friends for Culture-based Climate Action (GFCBCA) of the UNFCCC and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports. Speakers discussed the impact of climate change on culture and emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan’s C4C initiative. Topics such as the promotion of cultural approaches to climate-related issues, increasing inclusivity and sustainability at national and international levels, partnerships between public-private sectors, and access to financial opportunities were discussed during the session.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, in his closing remarks, COP29 President and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, highlighted the significance of the event: “I am pleased that today’s event is dedicated to culture. I also thank the Ministry of Culture for contributing to climate action. We will work to ensure that the role of culture in
climate action is included in the final document of COP29.”
