Baku: The open court hearing concerning the criminal cases against several Armenian citizens, including prominent figures such as Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Gukasyan, and Bako Sahakyan, continued at the Baku Military Court. These individuals face charges related to crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, and other serious offenses resulting from Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the court session proceeded under the chairmanship of Judge Zeynal Agayev, along with Judges Jamal Ramazanov and Anar Rzayev. Each defendant was provided with a translator and legal representation. The session was attended by the defendants, their attorneys, victims' representatives, and state prosecutors.
The court heard testimony from Bako Sahakyan, who revealed involvement in the supply chain of the Armenian armed forces during military operations post the 1994 ceasefire. Sahakyan's testimony confirmed the deployment of military supplies and personnel under directives from Armenia's military-political leadership. He highlighted that the Armenian Defense Ministry sent the 'S-300' missile system to Shusha between 2015 and 2020.
During the hearing, defendant Garik Martirosyan's lawyer requested to terminate his participation due to medical treatment, which the court granted. The court also addressed a similar request from the lawyer of a victim, Nazrin Mammadli, due to family issues.
Further testimony from David Babayan was presented, revealing his roles within the illegal regime and the logistics of ammunition supplies from Armenia. Babayan confirmed that supplies were transported via specific routes and highlighted economic interactions involving energy and goods between Armenia and the occupied territories.
The court proceedings are set to continue on September 1, with fifteen defendants facing charges related to the aggressive war waged by Armenia against Azerbaijan. These charges include a range of serious offenses under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, reflecting the scale and impact of the alleged crimes.
