Deputy Chief Claims Violations of Azerbaijani Rights in Russia

Baku: The rights of Azerbaijanis residing in Russia have been violated, stated Samira Najafzadeh, Deputy Head of the Department of International Legal Cooperation of the Prosecutor General’s Office, during a briefing focused on the torture and deliberate killing of Azerbaijani citizens in the Russian Federation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Najafzadeh emphasized that the torture of Azerbaijanis living in Russia constitutes a violation of international law. She highlighted that torture is expressly prohibited by international treaties. While Azerbaijan remains a member of the European Convention on Human Rights, Russia has withdrawn from this convention, complicating the enforcement of these international legal protections.
