Baku: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has unveiled a new £20 million initiative designed to foster peace and development in border regions. Speaking at a press briefing alongside Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, von der Leyen outlined the program's objectives and the European Commission's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents in these areas.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, von der Leyen emphasized the program's focus on making peace tangible for people living in border areas. The initiative aims to improve healthcare services by procuring ambulances and enhancing security through mine clearance. Additionally, it will support rural development, water resource management, and precision agriculture to build strong local communities.
The program will also provide significant support to small and medium-sized enterprises, recognizing their vital role in local economies. By investing in these areas, the European Commission hopes to create a visible and lasting impact on peace and stability in the region.
