Five military personnel of the Russian Peacekeeping Contingent were killed, the Press Service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan told APA.

On September 20, 2023, during local anti-terrorism operations in the village of Janyatag in the Tartar district of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a group of military personnel from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participating in the operation, opened fire on a vehicle of the Russian Federation’s Peacekeeping Contingent (RPC) stationed in the area, suspecting it to be associated with illegal Armenian armed groups due to the complex terrain and foggy-rainy weather conditions.
