Local media reported that the situation was quieter tonight than on the previous four nights. However, there was some tension in central Paris and sporadic clashes in Marseille, Nice, and the eastern city of Strasbourg.
"A calmer night thanks to the determined action of the police, who have made 427 arrests since the start of the evening," the country's Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin said on Twitter.
