Tbilisi: Georgia-Azerbaijan relations are developing dynamically year by year in all directions, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said during his speech at the official reception organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tbilisi on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day, APA's local bureau reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the speaker emphasized that relations between the countries are based on respect for each other's sovereignty, independence, and interests, as well as sincere dialogue. Papuashvili noted that Georgia has always supported peace and progress in the South Caucasus and expressed Georgia's commitment to continue working with neighboring countries towards peacebuilding in the region in the future.
Papuashvili congratulated the Azerbaijani state and people on the occasion of Independence Day, wishing the friendly and brotherly country peace, stability, and prosperity. Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Georgia, Faig Guliyev, also addressed the gathering, stating that the celebration of the 108th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic's establishment in Tbilisi carries symbolic significance. He reminded the audience that Azerbaijan's first independence was declared in the Georgian capital on May 28, 1918.
The ambassador highlighted that Azerbaijan-Georgia relations, based on friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness, as well as the strategic partnership between the two countries, continue to develop at a high level today. The event was attended by Georgian government officials, members of parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps, public and political figures, and members of the Azerbaijani community.
The reception began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Georgia, followed by a video dedicated to Independence Day. After the official proceedings, a concert program was presented featuring the Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, mugham performer Tayyar Bayramov, who performed mugham and folk songs, along with a participant from Georgia's First Channel children's competition 'Ranina,' who sang 'Shen Azerbaijan.'
