Lankaran: Iran's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, has expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Azerbaijan for facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid from Russia to Iran. Speaking at Lankaran International Airport, Demirchilou highlighted the recent dispatch of humanitarian aid from Azerbaijan to Iran, emphasizing the shared cultural roots and values that bind the two nations during challenging times.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the humanitarian cargo sent by Russia has arrived in Lankaran and will be handed over to the Iranian Red Crescent Society for further distribution. The aid initiative follows the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, under which Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations sent approximately 30 tons of food products and medical supplies to Iran on March 10. This consignment included 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of drinking water, about 600 kilograms of tea, and approximately 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies.
In a parallel effort, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM) has dispatched 13 tons of medical supplies to Azerbaijan. These supplies will be transferred to Iran, with the authorized representatives of the Iranian government overseeing the process to ensure that the aid reaches its intended destination efficiently.
