Baku: Azerbaijan has unveiled its comprehensive reconstruction model for Karabakh and East Zangazur at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, posited as an exemplary framework for post-conflict countries. Gulshan Rzayeva, the Deputy Head of the Office of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, highlighted this initiative during the session titled 'Climate Action Contributing to Peace Through Urban Solutions in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Areas'.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rzayeva emphasized that Azerbaijan integrates its urbanization agenda with climate considerations. She pointed out that urbanization and climate change are interdependent, with urbanization impacting climate and vice versa. This understanding is central to the reconstruction efforts in Karabakh and East Zangazur, which aim not only to rebuild infrastructure but also to rejuvenate communities and livelihoods.
The restoration projects are grounded in principles of human-centered urban planning, focusing on accessibility, sustainable infrastructure, and climate resilience. Rzayeva stated that Azerbaijan's approach serves as a practical model for countries emerging from conflict, offering insights into effective reconstruction strategies.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan's initiative aims to assist other nations in securing urban development financing, attracting investment, and establishing sustainable communities. This model underscores a holistic approach to rebuilding, prioritizing human and environmental considerations.
