Levon Mnatsakanyan Testifies on Armenian Military Activities in Karabakh at Baku Military Court

Baku: Court proceedings regarding crimes against peace and humanity, involving several Armenian citizens, continued at the Baku Military Court. The charges include war crimes, acts of genocide, and terrorism linked to Armenia’s military actions. Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, Davit Babayan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, and others stand accused.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the hearings, presided over by Judge Zeynal Aghayev with a panel that includes Jamal Ramazanov and Anar Rzayev, featured testimony from Levon Mnatsakanyan. The accused was questioned about his role in the military activities under Armenia’s influence in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, including the functioning of military units and their financial and logistical aspects.

Mnatsakanyan disclosed his military service history, highlighting his roles in the self-styled entity’s ‘army’ and his appointment as ‘defense minister’. He revealed that the Armenian Ministry of Defense provided financial and military support, including weapons and ammunition. Mnatsakanyan detailed the appointments to military positions, stating they were sanctioned by high-ranking Armenian officials.

He further explained that Armenian military personnel, along with residents from the occupied territories, were governed by similar military regulations. Mnatsakanyan also mentioned the receipt of foreign equipment and the absence of specific military weapons in the occupied regions. His testimony touched on the chain of command regarding military orders, particularly during the 44-day war, implicating the Armenian Prime Minister and military leadership.

The trial, which involves 15 Armenian nationals, continues as the court delves into the alleged crimes facilitated by Armenian state structures. These include the planning and execution of military aggression against Azerbaijan, in violation of international law, with the involvement of prominent Armenian figures.
