Baku: On the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of IDEA Public Union, another 'Friendship Cup' mini-football tournament was held among teams of boys and girls aged 10-11 from orphanages.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the tournament aims to support the physical and psychological development of children, facilitate their integration into society, and provide opportunities for building new friendships. Organized by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan, the competition included teams from orphanages operating under the Social Services Agency in Baku, Ganja, Lankaran, and Sheki. The teams competed under the names 'Zafar', 'Shahinler', 'Birlik', 'Kapaz', 'Khan', and 'Gala'.
The event was marked by high sports enthusiasm and friendly interactions among the participants. Both children and spectators experienced moments of excitement and joy. One of the event's highlights was Leyla Aliyeva's support for all the teams. She engaged in conversations with the children and took photos with them, wishing the participants success and emphasizing the importance of regularly holding such initiatives.
The winning teams in both age categories were awarded diplomas, medals, and cups, while the second and third place teams also received medals and diplomas. At the event's conclusion, children, educators, and organizers highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives on children's lives, particularly in strengthening self-confidence and social connections. They expressed gratitude for the continuous organization of these social projects.
The 'Friendship Cup' mini-football tournament, which began last year, has become a traditional event, with the current competition successfully continuing the tradition.
