Ulaanbaatar: Mongolia is setting its sights on Kazakhstan as a critical partner and strategic bridge connecting the East and West, as discussed in a meeting between Mongolia’s President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to Trend News Agency, President Khurelsukh highlighted Mongolia’s intent to enhance collaboration with Kazakhstan across multiple sectors during expanded talks. He stressed that Ulaanbaatar is keenly observing Kazakhstan’s model of economic development and committed to focusing on bilateral projects in trade, transportation, logistics, agriculture, and space exploration. Khurelsukh also supported President Tokayev’s proposal to increase bilateral trade to $500 million, reinforcing the economic relationship between the two nations.
The discussions further explored joint ventures in ecological, historical, ethnographic, and economic tourism. President Tokayev suggested promoting Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage to Mongolian tourists, including visits to
significant sites such as the ancient city of Turkestan and the Ulytau region, where the Mausoleum of Jochi Khan is located. Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan’s eagerness to develop the Altai tourism cluster with Mongolia and to establish joint tourism routes, indicating a strong interest in broadening tourism ties with Mongolia.
