Nakhchivan and Turkey to Sign Operational Agreement on Energy Export

BAKU — Nakhchivan State Energy Service and Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) are set to sign an Operational Agreement to facilitate energy export and exchange between Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan region and Turkey.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citing the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, discussions between TEIAS and the Nakhchivan State Energy Service have focused on the documentation required for the agreement, including the current state of power transmission lines, the locations of meters, and the application areas of relay-protection systems on both the Turkish and Nakhchivan sides. The European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO) has approved the transmission of 75 megawatts for export (requiring Turkey to operate in passive island mode) and 40 megawatts for import (requiring Nakhchivan to be in passive island mode) through the Turkey-Nakhchivan electricity connection.
