Tbilisi: The South Caucasus is poised to become a key transportation hub for the movement of people, goods, and services, according to Alexander Vinnikov, Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia. In an interview with APA, Vinnikov emphasized the necessity of developing modern infrastructure and achieving true intermodality to facilitate efficient transshipment across various stages, countries, and geographic conditions.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the 8 August agreement in Washington, along with subsequent developments, has led to the creation of a regional network primarily linking Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Trkiye. This network also extends the connection from Central Asia to Europe, presenting significant opportunities for the region.
Vinnikov highlighted that for these initiatives to be successful, they must genuinely serve the interests of the countries involved. The aim is to enable regional actors to fully realize their economic and transit potential, while also contributing to peace-building and long-term stability. These goals are central to the TRIPP initiative, which holds the promise of unlocking economic opportunities for the entire South Caucasus region.
