Tbilisi: NATO has expressed optimism regarding recent developments in the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing that a lasting peace settlement will enhance regional stability. Alexander Vinnikov, Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, shared these insights in an interview with APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Vinnikov emphasized the significance of resolving the conflict for stability across the Black Sea region. Although NATO is not directly involved in the peace process, Vinnikov expressed support for efforts by allied nations to facilitate conflict resolution. He highlighted the initialling of a peace treaty on August 8 in Washington as a pivotal step toward lasting peace, which could improve regional connectivity and strengthen NATO's partnerships in the area.
Alexander Vinnikov also acknowledged Azerbaijan's active participation with NATO and its utilization of the Alliance's partnership tools. He noted Azerbaijan's important role in regional security and expressed hope for continued efforts toward a comprehensive and mutually acceptable peace. Vinnikov urged both Azerbaijan and Armenia to proceed with the signing, ratification, and implementation of the peace treaty, which would enable a focus on enhancing stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus region.
