Pakistan Launches Green-Tech Hub to Spearhead Sustainable Energy Transformation


ISLAMABAD: A state-of-the-art Green-Tech Hub (G-TH) was inaugurated on Friday by Pakistan’s climate change and environmental coordination ministry in collaboration with national and international energy sector stakeholders, including universities. This initiative aims to revolutionize the country’s energy sector by leveraging green technologies, promoting renewable energy solutions, and fostering eco-friendly innovations to significantly reduce carbon emissions, Azeri-Press News Agency reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Prime Minister’s climate aide, Romina Khurshid Alam, addressed the launching ceremony, emphasizing the transformative potential of the Green-Tech Hub. She described the initiative as a pivotal step towards establishing Pakistan as a frontrunner in the region for adopting sustainable solutions in the energy sector. Alam highlighted the hub as a symbol of hope and progress, designed to nurture ideas that will accelerate Pakistan’s transition to clean energy and environmental sus
tainability.

Alam outlined that the initiative aligns with Pakistan’s commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement, reinforcing the nation’s position in the global green economy. The hub aims to foster a just transition that ensures economic growth while protecting the environment and supporting the community. She acknowledged the critical role of universities and researchers in conceptualizing this platform, which aims to drive innovation, research, and development in achieving Pakistan’s low-carbon energy objectives.

By hosting the Green-Tech Hub at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan seeks to merge academic research with entrepreneurial spirit. Alam noted that collaboration with institutions like COMSATS would expand the possibilities of green technology advancements. The hub is envisioned as a comprehensive platform for entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers to cultivate and advance innovative ideas.

The Green-Tech Hub is set to play a crucial role in attracting g
lobal investments for Pakistan’s energy transformation. Alam announced that the hub would be prominently featured at the upcoming UN-led global climate summit in Baku, starting November 11. The event will position Pakistan as a prime destination for green investments, with the central goal of inviting international investors to contribute to Pakistan’s sustainable future.

Alam called on businesses, policymakers, and development partners to support the government’s initiative by fostering an environment where sustainable technologies can flourish. She emphasized the collective responsibility to build a future where innovation and sustainability are intertwined, ensuring prosperity for future generations.
