President Ilham Aliyev Advocates for Strategic Investment in Non-Energy Sectors at Davos Event

Davos: President Ilham Aliyev attended the 'Azerbaijan Executive Breakfast' event organized by Euronews in Davos, where he addressed questions from business representatives and highlighted Azerbaijan's strategic investment priorities.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the importance of diversifying Azerbaijan's economy, shifting focus from the energy sector to non-energy sectors such as renewable energy, AI, data centers, and mining. He noted that Azerbaijan has already made significant strides in renewable energy projects, with plans to dramatically increase solar and wind energy capacity by 2032.

The President detailed Azerbaijan's efforts in developing infrastructure to support green energy exports, indicating a growing potential for international cooperation in this sector. He also highlighted mining as a promising area for investment, particularly in territories recently liberated from Armenian occupation.

President Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan's role as a reliable economic partner with a strategic geographical position, serving as a bridge for connectivity and economic cooperation in the region. He stated that Azerbaijan's transportation infrastructure, including seaports, airports, and railroads, is well-prepared to handle the increasing volume of cargo, positioning the country as a key player in connecting Europe with Central Asia.

The event also featured remarks from Euronews Chairman Pedro Vargas David, who praised Azerbaijan's rapid development and strategic positioning as a regional hub. He announced the launch of Alpac's new private equity fund for Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and the wider region, with a target of 250 million euros, potentially resulting in up to half a billion euros of investment.

President Aliyev's participation in the 'Azerbaijan Executive Breakfast' at Davos reflects the country's commitment to fostering international partnerships and attracting foreign investment in its emerging sectors.
