President Ilham Aliyev Discusses Peace and Connectivity at Munich Security Conference

Munich: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan addressed Azerbaijani media during the Munich Security Conference, emphasizing Azerbaijan's commitment to cooperation and peace. Asserting that peace has already been achieved, Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan's growing significance in areas like security, economic development, energy, transport, and artificial intelligence.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Aliyev reiterated Azerbaijan's readiness to sign a peace agreement with Armenia, contingent upon constitutional changes in Armenia. He stressed that the agreements reached at the Washington Summit indicate de facto peace, and formal peace depends on Armenia's constitutional amendments and the removal of territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

In response to questions about the evolving global order, Aliyev pointed to the founding charter of the Board of Peace, which Azerbaijan signed in Davos. He suggested that a new world order is emerging, driven by shifts in international law and intergovernmental relations. Aliyev expressed hope that the upcoming summit in Washington would clarify the new order's agenda and outcomes.

Discussing Azerbaijan's role in transport corridors, Aliyev outlined the country's initiatives in energy, transport, and data connectivity. He detailed plans for the Zangezur Corridor and emphasized Azerbaijan's strategic importance for Europe and Asia. With robust infrastructure and international ties, Azerbaijan is poised to be a key player in regional and global connectivity.
