According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Kenyan President acknowledged the historical significance of the World Urban Forum, mentioning its first gathering in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2002. He expressed gratitude towards President Ilham Aliyev for hosting the current event in Baku. Ruto described the forum as results-oriented and underscored the universal challenge of housing faced by many countries.
President Ruto stressed the need for justice and greater representation, particularly for African nations, within the United Nations Security Council. He argued that these changes are crucial to addressing global challenges effectively. Furthermore, he highlighted the Baku event as a pivotal moment to discuss strategies for creating more livable, sustainable, and resilient urban environments for future generations.
