Baku: The Speaker of Zimbabwe's National Assembly, Jacob Mudenda, emphasized the significance of developing relations with Azerbaijan during his official visit to the country. Mudenda met with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, at the plenary session hall of the Milli Majlis, where discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting included a tour of the Heydar Aliyev Museum, where Mudenda signed the Guest Book. Both speakers praised the existing political relations between Zimbabwe and Azerbaijan and identified favorable opportunities for expanding cooperation across various sectors. They also recalled the Zimbabwean President's state visit to Azerbaijan, highlighting the productive discussions that took place between the two heads of state.

Sahiba Gafarova emphasized Azerbaijan's commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations within the framework of international platforms such as the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. She noted that Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement focused on promoting common interests at the international level, a policy that continues today.

The meeting also addressed the development of interparliamentary relations. Gafarova reminisced about Mudenda's participation in the Parliamentary Meeting at COP29 in Baku and other significant international assemblies. She stressed the importance of such interactions in enriching the partnership between the two countries' legislative bodies.

Both parties recognized the crucial role of interparliamentary cooperation in fostering bilateral and multilateral relations. They highlighted the need to intensify contacts between parliamentary working groups and strengthen collaboration between parliamentary committees.

Mudenda expressed his satisfaction with the visit, noting the rapid development of Baku and his positive experiences visiting the Alley of Honors and Victory Park. He reiterated Zimbabwe's dedication to deepening political ties with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of multilateralism and international law in achieving global peace and stability.

The discussions also included perspectives on expanding economic cooperation and other mutual interests, underscoring the shared commitment to furthering the partnership between Zimbabwe and Azerbaijan.
