Baku: The hearing of the open court session in the criminal cases against citizens of the Republic of Armenia-Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Gukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, David Babayan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, and others-accused of committing crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, genocide, and terrorism will continue on February 5.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the hearings against Armenian nationals commenced on January 17, 2025. Following the hearings, the court adjourned for deliberations on December 26, 2025. The fifteen defendants of Armenian origin face charges related to numerous crimes committed during the aggressive war waged by Armenia against Azerbaijan. These alleged crimes include military aggression, committed under the direct leadership and participation of Armenian state officials and armed forces, in violation of both domestic and international legal norms.
The charges encompass a broad array of criminal activities, including planning and waging a war of aggression, genocide, terrorism, and illegal acquisition of weapons, among others. Key figures associated with these crimes include Robert Sedraki Kocharyan, Serzh Azati Sargsyan, and other high-ranking Armenian officials, who are accused of orchestrating the aggressive actions against Azerbaijan through various means of support and direct or indirect participation.
The individuals facing charges under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan include Arayik Vladimiri Harutyunyan, Arkadi Arshaviri Ghukasyan, and several others. They are charged under numerous articles, including Article 100 (war of aggression), Article 103 (genocide), Article 214 (terrorism), and Article 278 (forcible seizure and retention of power), highlighting the severity and breadth of the accusations.
