Turkish Parliamentary Chair Calls for End to ‘Shows’ Driven by Armenian Diaspora

Baku: 'Armenia is currently demonstrating a different position,' Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Trkiye, told journalists in Baku, APA reports. 'Armenia now says it wants to live within its borders and in peace with its neighbors,' Fuat Oktay said.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Oktay also addressed the historical context of the Khojaly events, which took place 34 years ago. He emphasized the importance of remembering the Khojaly genocide to prevent its recurrence. Oktay criticized the actions of those who, over many years, have claimed that Turks committed massacres and caused global uproar. He noted that various parliaments around the world have adopted resolutions on these allegations, a development he firmly rejected.

Oktay specifically mentioned that several countries, particularly France, have brought this issue to prominence. He expressed concern that many Western countries have participated in this narrative. Oktay called for an end to what he described as "shows" driven by the Armenian diaspora in Europe and America, as well as Armenians living in Armenia. He emphasized Trkiye's desire for development, progress, and peaceful coexistence with neighboring countries, a sentiment he claims is reciprocated by these neighbors.
