Turkiye and Azerbaijan Strengthen Bonds Through Joint Firefighting Efforts

IZMIR—Turkiye’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli, recently praised Azerbaijan's assistance in controlling severe forest fires across Turkiye, emphasizing the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations as a model of international cooperation.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the support from Azerbaijan has been crucial in managing the fires in various regions of Izmir, including Karsiyaka Yamanlar and Urla, as well as extinguishing the fire in Bolu Göynk. The efforts have been successful despite challenging strong winds, with current operations ongoing in five other regions. Yumakli expressed confidence that these remaining fires would soon be under control.

The minister highlighted the collaborative spirit exhibited during the crisis, with all state institutions, organizations, and enterprises coming together regardless of political differences. "During this period, we united for our homeland without any political distinctions," he stated. Additionally, Yumakli reminded the public of Turkiye's National Tree Planting Day on November 11, outlining plans to plant 500,000 saplings this coming November to rehabilitate areas affected by the fires.
