U.S. Expert Highlights Strategic Importance of Zangezur Corridor in Recent Peace Negotiations

Washington: A recent development in peace negotiations at the White House has underscored the strategic significance of the Zangezur Corridor, according to Richard Hoagland, former US Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. Hoagland emphasized the corridor's critical role for Azerbaijan in connecting its mainland with the exclave Nakhchivan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hoagland stated, "The Corridor links the mainland recognized by the United Nations with its borders of Azerbaijan, with its exclave Nakhchivan, and to reach Nakhchivan, you have to travel through southern Armenia." Current negotiations between Yerevan and Baku are centered on this issue. The recent steps towards peace, initiated in Washington, have recognized the corridor's importance, now referred to as the TRIPP Corridor. This new designation indicates U.S. involvement in the corridor's implementation, highlighting potential economic benefits and a commitment to maintaining peace in the region.
