ACWA Power Joins COP29 as Official Energy and Water Partner.


Riyadh: ACWA Power, the world’s largest private water desalination company and a leader in energy transition, has been appointed as the Energy and Water Partner for COP29. The company, known for its pioneering efforts in green hydrogen, aims to leverage this platform to advocate for sustainable energy and water solutions on a global scale.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ACWA Power will engage with international stakeholders at COP29 to foster collaboration with global industry peers, potential partners, and climate advocates. The company plans to use the event as an opportunity to share ideas and drive progress in the energy transition. This initiative aligns with the goals of other Official partners of COP29, who will also present their sustainability projects during the conference.

Reflecting on the partnership, Marco Arcelli, CEO of ACWA Power, emphasized the importance of COP29 as a platform for promoting policies that support renewable energy and water security. Arcelli stated that the even
t allows ACWA Power to reinforce its global partnerships, positioning the company as a leader in renewable energy and sustainable development. He highlighted the company’s ambitious targets, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, a decade ahead of Saudi Arabia’s national goal, and expanding its power capacity from renewable sources by 85% in the next five years.

ACWA Power, established in 2004 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has a significant presence in 13 countries across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. With over 4,000 employees, the company manages a portfolio of 90 projects valued at USD 94.3 billion. It has the capacity to generate 65 GW of power and produce 8.0 million m3 of desalinated water daily, serving the needs of state utilities and industries through long-term contracts.
