Baku: Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samir Sharifov, visited Uzbekistan on August 19, where he was welcomed by Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov. The meeting concentrated on issues arising from the strategic alliance between the two countries, with an emphasis on the significance of intensive contacts between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to further solidify the alliance, which is rooted in the countries' brotherly and friendly relations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting was succeeded by the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. These consultations were conducted by Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister, Samir Sharifov, and Uzbekistan's Deputy Foreign Minister, Bobur Usmanov. Both parties acknowledged the positive momentum in their bilateral political dialogue and underscored the crucial role of the Intergovernmental Commission and the political consultations mechanism.

The discussions also covered the implementation of previously reached agreements and explored avenues for expanding cooperation in various sectors, including trade and economic relations, energy, transport and logistics, and humanitarian affairs. Additionally, the parties reviewed opportunities for enhanced interaction within regional and international organizations, such as the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

The consultations concluded with an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, further reinforcing the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
