According to Trend News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Energy Minister Samir Valiyev, who highlighted the integration of the projects under the strategy with the activities of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.” Valiyev emphasized the importance of regular meetings to maintain focus and accountability among the members and to address critical issues within the green energy sector.
Deputy Chairperson Ramil Huseyn, also the Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, presented a preliminary assessment report detailing the first half of 2024’s strategic implementation results. Discussions covered a broad range of topics including the enhancement of public-private partnerships in gas and heat supply, the research of offshore wind energy potential, and the expansion of bioenergy and geothermal energy use. Also discussed was the development of an information system for renewable energy sources and the National Plan for Electrometric Power Plants.
The meeting also served as a platform for other members to report on their respective areas and to deliberate on future steps, challenges, and recommendations to enhance green energy initiatives. The diverse composition of the working group includes representatives from multiple sectors such as energy, economy, ecology, finance, and digital development, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the strategy’s implementation.
This initiative is part of Azerbaijan’s broader efforts, as guided by eight working groups established by the Cabinet of Ministers on June 12, 2023, to ensure effective execution of the development strategy and to coordinate activities across various state bodies.
