Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Celebrate Enhanced Ties with School Project in Fuzuli

BAKU — During a significant bilateral meeting at the 29th Annual Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors in Baku, Kamran Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General, discussed the deepening relations with Uzbekistan, symbolized by a new school project in the recently liberated city of Fuzuli.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting with Sherzod Tukhtaboyev, Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, on September 29 highlighted the flourishing partnership between the two countries, nurtured through various strategic projects. Aliyev pointed to the school named after the renowned scholar Mirzo Ulugbek, built by Uzbekistan in Fuzuli, as a testament to the brotherly ties between the nations. This initiative is part of Uzbekistan’s broader engagement in the reconstruction efforts in Karabakh.

The discussions also covered the active role of both countries in international arenas, including the UN, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Organization of Turkic States. Aliyev emphasized the significance of such collaboration in enhancing global diplomatic and legal frameworks.

Further, Aliyev elaborated on ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan’s prosecution system and the critical role these play in crime combat and international legal cooperation. The session also marked an opportunity for Aliyev to invite his counterpart to a High-Level Plenary Session on “Mobilizing Law Enforcement in the Fight Against Climate Change,” to be held in Baku on November 15, organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

Deputy Prosecutor General Yuldashev acknowledged the robust cooperation between the two countries’ prosecution offices and expressed enthusiasm for its continuation. The meeting also served as an occasion for Yuldashev to extend early congratulations to Aliyev for October 1, recognized as Azerbaijan’s Prosecutors’ Day and marking the 106th anniversary of the nation’s prosecution service.
