Baku – Azerbaijan has been elected as a member of the UNESCO Programme Council for the term 2023-2027, as announced by the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO. The election took place during the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Membership in the International Coordinating Council of the Man and Biosphere Programme is expected to aid Azerbaijan in fulfilling its environmental and biospheric responsibilities. The membership will facilitate the development of joint projects with neighboring countries and enhance Azerbaijan’s cooperation with UNESCO.
Additionally, this membership is anticipated to positively impact Azerbaijan’s knowledge acquisition and skill development in relevant fields, particularly through the country’s universities. This achievement highlights Azerbaijan’s growing role in international environmental and biospheric initiatives.
