Baku: Azerbaijan is in active discussions with Trkiye and Russia to advance the digitalization of transport systems, a move aimed at enhancing cross-border integration and data exchange. Rahman Hummatov, the Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, highlighted this initiative during the official presentation of the "Single Window" Information System - Digital Logistics Platform in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the project extends beyond domestic digitalization processes, emphasizing the importance of foreign economic activities as a gateway to Azerbaijan's relations with partner countries. Hummatov detailed that the measures would focus on digitalizing transport documents and facilitating mutual data exchange to establish seamless cross-border integration.
As part of the project, Azerbaijan has established cooperation with various international organizations, aligning its implementation mechanisms with UN standards. Negotiations with Trkiye and Russia aim to integrate transport documents into a digital environment, with future plans to expand integration to international transport corridors, including the Middle Corridor. This expansion will involve countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Trkiye, Georgia, and others, fostering broader cooperation on data exchange and digital document processes.
Hummatov emphasized that the "Single Window" Information System represents more than a digital platform; it is central to a new governance approach in Azerbaijan's foreign trade, transport, and logistics sectors. The system aims to minimize bureaucratic barriers, simplify documentation and permit procedures, enhance interaction between government agencies and businesses, and streamline trade processes. These improvements are expected to increase cargo transportation speed, reduce logistics costs, and improve service quality, thereby boosting the competitiveness of international transport corridors through Azerbaijan.
