BAKU—In preparation for the upcoming snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has installed web cameras in 1,000 polling stations across the country to ensure transparency. Rovzat Gasimov, Deputy Chairman of the CEC, announced the initiative at a meeting on Thursday.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Gasimov highlighted Azerbaijan’s 16-year history of successfully using webcam technology in elections, a practice highly regarded by international observers. The web cameras, which cover the entire geography of Azerbaijan, will stream live footage of the voting process on election day, allowing for continuous public monitoring. “Interested parties will have the opportunity to observe the processes from beginning to end even during the day without going to polling stations,” Gasimov stated, emphasizing the commitment to openness and transparency in the electoral process.
