Azerbaijan Pledges Continued Efforts for Regional Stability, Says Foreign Minister


BAKU — At the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov articulated Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing peace and stability in the South Caucasus, following the end of the conflict with Armenia.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Bayramov highlighted the significant changes in the region post-conflict, citing the establishment of de-facto peace and stability for the first time in decades. He emphasized Azerbaijan’s role in fostering a new era of peace by proposing fair and lawful peace terms to Armenia, reflecting mutual respect and acknowledgment of sovereignty and territorial integrity.



The Foreign Minister noted considerable progress in the normalization process with Armenia over the past year, including direct bilateral negotiations that have yielded advancements in drafting a bilateral agreement, border demarcation, and the development of confidence-building measures.



Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s determination to drive this process forward, emphasizing the country’s responsibility towards not only its national security and prosperity but also the future well-being of the entire region. He expressed a strong commitment to seeing the peace process through to a successful conclusion.
