BAKU: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has ratified a series of significant agreements with Pakistan, aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and connectivity, Trend reports. The approved documents, signed in Islamabad on July 11, 2024, encompass agreements on preferential trade, transit trade, and air services between the two nations. According to Trend News Agency, the preferential trade agreement seeks to stimulate economic exchange by reducing tariffs and customs duties on selected products, potentially eliminating tariffs on certain goods altogether. This move is anticipated to increase trade volumes, open new markets, and deepen economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. The transit trade agreement is designed to bolster international trade relations by facilitating the transit of goods. This arrangement provides Pakistan with expedited access to European and Central Asian markets via Azerbaijan, while Azerbaijan benefits from improved access to South Asian and Chinese markets through Pakist an. The air services agreement aims to enhance air transport connectivity, ensuring regular direct flights between the two countries. This is expected to strengthen trade, business, and tourism links, as well as support cargo transport, thereby enriching cultural and business ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
