Baku: In the first quarter of this year, Azerbaijan transported 10,764.6 million cubic meters of gas through its main gas pipelines, marking a 3.3% decrease compared to the same period last year, as reported by the State Statistical Committee to APA. A significant portion, 50.6%, of this gas transportation was conducted via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline, which is instrumental in exporting gas produced from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline saw a transportation volume of 5,447.9 million cubic meters of gas during the reporting period, reflecting a 2.4% decrease. Last year, Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines transported a total of 40,348.3 million cubic meters of gas, experiencing a 2.7% increase from the previous year. Notably, 56.6% of last year’s transportation was through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline, with 22,851.9 million cubic meters of gas transported, which represented a 4.3% increase year-on-year.
