Baku Hosts Azerbaijan-Slovakia Business Forum to Strengthen Economic Ties

Baku: The Azerbaijan-Slovakia Business Forum was held in Baku on July 15. The forum was jointly organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO) and the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, prior to the forum, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Slovakia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Sakov¡. During the meeting, the officials highlighted the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries, noting that high-level contacts and economic dialogue contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation. The sides also reviewed cooperation in business, trade, diversification of energy supplies, industry, tourism, digitalization, and investment promotion.

The Azerbaijan-Slovakia Business Forum subsequently brought together government officials from both countries, as well as representatives of companies operating across various sectors. Addressing the event, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov noted that the existing strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Slovakia provides a solid foundation for expanding economic cooperation. He also highlighted Azerbaijan's favorable business environment and the opportunities available to foreign investors.

The minister described the ongoing Smart Village project in Bash Garvand village of the Aghdam district, as well as the construction of the Milan Rastislav tef¡nik Secondary School-a gift from Slovakia to Azerbaijan-as examples of successful bilateral cooperation. Jabbarov also expressed gratitude to Slovakia for its active participation in the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan's Garabagh region.

In her remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Denisa Sakov¡ expressed Slovakia's interest in further strengthening economic relations with Azerbaijan. She noted that direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries, along with enhanced cooperation in key sectors, make a significant contribution to expanding bilateral economic ties.

Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO, and Daniel Head of the Foreign Trade Department at SARIO, also addressed the forum. They emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation to promote trade and investment, advance business dialogue, and establish new partnerships between Azerbaijani and Slovak companies.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) and Slovakia Travel signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of tourism. The forum concluded with presentations on the business and investment opportunities offered by both countries, followed by B2B meetings.
