Baku: Azerbaijan has officially approved an updated national target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions as part of its commitment to the Paris Agreement. This decision comes with the approval of the ‘Updated, 3rd Nationally Determined Contributions’ document, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Prime Minister Ali Asadov signed the decision endorsing the national target. The target aims for a 40 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035, using 1990 as the baseline year. This ambitious goal will rely on various factors, including the potential increase in financial resources through international financial support, such as preferential loans and private sector investments. Additionally, the availability and transfer of technology, technological development, support for capacity building, and the absorption capabilities of forests and other ecosystems are critical to achieving these targets.
