Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting on February 24 with delegations from Trkiye and Georgia, led by Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly, and Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament, respectively. The discussions centered on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan's alliances with Trkiye and Georgia, alongside regional security issues.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing interparliamentary cooperation by maintaining regular contacts between the foreign affairs committees. Confidence was expressed that the upcoming 10th meeting of the Foreign Relations Committees of the Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Georgian parliaments would further bolster relations among the three nations.
The officials highlighted the role of trilateral cooperation formats among the foreign and defense ministries in promoting peace, stability, security, and prosperity in the region. The discussions also addressed energy security, transport and communications projects, the development of the Middle Corridor, and regional economic integration.
The parties exchanged views on ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region in the post-conflict period, focusing on the normalization process and the role of parliamentary diplomacy. The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister provided updates to the Georgian and Turkish officials on the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace and normalization process, outlining Azerbaijan's efforts and expectations in these areas.
