Azerbaijan Thwarts UAV Drug Smuggling Attempt from Iran


Baku: An attempt to smuggle narcotic substances into Azerbaijan has been prevented, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA. Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are being successfully continued.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, as a result of operations carried out jointly with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on April 6, the Horadiz border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service intercepted the transfer of a total of 14 kilograms and 240 grams of narcotic substances from the Islamic Republic of Iran into Azerbaijan. The confiscated drugs included 14 kg 200 g of marijuana and 40 g of methamphetamine, which were being transported via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).



Operational-investigative measures are ongoing in connection with the incident.
