Azerbaijan Unveils Key Tasks of National Cybersecurity Agency

Baku: Azerbaijan has announced the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Agency, which will act as the legal successor to the Electronic Security Service. Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov made this announcement during the IV National Cybersecurity Forum held in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Asadov highlighted that the Agency's primary responsibilities will include regulation and supervision of the cybersecurity sector in Azerbaijan. It will also coordinate the activities of resilient information infrastructure entities and promote nationwide awareness regarding cybersecurity risks and threats.

Asadov emphasized the state's focus on cybersecurity, noting that considerable efforts have been made to protect Azerbaijan's information space. He mentioned that during significant events such as the Patriotic War and COP29, numerous cyberattacks and sabotage attempts targeting the country's information resources were successfully thwarted. This was achieved through comprehensive measures undertaken in collaboration with relevant institutions.

The Deputy Minister also noted that the experience and achievements of the Electronic Security Service will be carried forward by the new National Cybersecurity Agency.
