Baku: The trial of Imamverdi Ahmadov, accused of organizing crimes against the constitutional order of the state, initiated by the State Security Service (SSS) at the Ganja Court of Grave Crimes, has concluded. The verdict was delivered in the trial chaired by Judge Dadash Imanov.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Imamverdi Ahmadov was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with the sentence to be served in a strict regime facility. The preliminary investigation into Ahmadov’s indictment was conducted under Article 28,278.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This article pertains to preparatory actions aimed at forcibly changing the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including its secular nature or the disintegration of its territorial integrity, as well as acts aimed at seizing power on the grounds of religious hostility, radicalism, or fanaticism.
Since April 2023, Ahmadov has reportedly been involved in gathering individuals with similar radical religious beliefs to provoke riots within Azerbaijan. His activities included organizing acts of violence against government representatives and attempting to forcibly alter the country’s constitutional structure. Ahmadov also organized armed training sessions for several individuals with similar intentions. He was detained during operational measures carried out by the State Security Service.
