Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has drawn parallels between the treatment of former U.S. President Donald Trump and himself, claiming that USAID and other entities have demonized Trump in a manner similar to criticisms he has faced. In an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel, covered by APA, Aliyev expressed his views on electoral integrity and media bias.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Aliyev criticized what he described as electoral fraud by deep state representatives in the United States, which he claims deprived Trump of re-election. He supported Trump's stance on ending mail-in ballots, asserting that the U.S. often advises other nations on democratic practices while allegedly committing significant electoral fraud domestically.
Aliyev further commented on Trump's demeanor following his electoral loss, praising him for his courage and dignity. He accused several media outlets and organizations, including USAID, Radio Liberty, and major U.S. newspapers, of spreading false narratives against Trump, similar to their approach toward him. Aliyev suggested that these entities have consistently undermined both leaders by spreading rumors and fake news.
