Baku: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an order approving 'The State Program for the Development of Tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030.' The State Program aims at introducing competitive tourism products to the market, improving management and regulation in the tourism sector, promoting tourism development across the regions, and carrying out effective branding and marketing activities.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the presidential order mandates the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan to submit proposals on several issues to the head of state. These include a revision of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On Tourism' within six months, based on suggestions from the State Agency for Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a revision of the mechanism for issuing investment incentive certificates for tourism-related projects within three months, considering the unique aspects of tourism activities.
Additionally, the Cabinet of Ministers is required to ensure coordination and oversight of the measures outlined in the State Program, with an annual report submitted to the President on their implementation. The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan must also prepare proposals within three months on increasing the contribution of air transport to tourism development and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers.
The State Agency for Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been tasked with addressing issues arising from the order, while the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy are responsible for ensuring the allocation of necessary financial resources during the annual preparation of the state budget and investment programs to finance the activities provided for in the State Program.
The Center for Economic Reform Analysis and Communications is assigned to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the measures outlined in the State Program, as directed by the State Agency for Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
