Munich: "We have long been initiators in the creation of corridors - beginning with energy, moving to transport, and now extending to electricity and fiber-optics. As our country's potential strengthens and international ties evolve, we are adding new elements to the existing concept of connectivity," said President Ilham Aliyev during his interview with Azerbaijani media in Munich.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Aliyev emphasized that while Azerbaijan's oil and gas pipelines are well-established, there remains a need to expand the gas transport infrastructure. He noted that the rail-related issues are partially resolved, ensuring smooth transit shipments and export of Azerbaijani products. The Zangezur Corridor, he mentioned, will be an additional contribution in this regard.
The President further elaborated on Azerbaijan's focus on electricity cables, fiber-optic cables, and the transportation and transit of data through the development of data centers and artificial intelligence. Highlighting the country's advantages, he mentioned Azerbaijan's strategic geography, strong ties with neighbors both to the West and the East, an electricity surplus, and a skilled workforce. These factors, he stated, position Azerbaijan as a crucial link between the East and the West.
Aliyev concluded by asserting that Azerbaijan's efforts in securing its security and sovereignty have enhanced its international standing. He urged for a broader perspective on corridors, viewing them not just as railways or highways but as integral elements that facilitate connectivity and meet modern demands.
