New york: Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev participated in the 2nd Global Conference on Harnessing Data to Improve Corruption Measurement, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, U.S., on December 2. The event aimed at developing and discussing new methodologies for assessing anti-corruption efforts.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the conference was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). It brought together representatives from up to 30 countries, international and regional organizations, and experts, focusing on alternative criteria for measuring the effectiveness of anti-corruption activities.
During the conference, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev emphasized the importance of measuring the scale of corruption to ensure effective combatting of this global issue. He addressed the gathering, highlighting the necessity of accurate assessment to improve anti-corruption strategies.
On the sidelines of the conference, Aliyev engaged in bilateral meetings with various officials, including Faisal Shahkar, Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Rule of Law and Security Institutions; Drago Kos, IACA Dean; and representatives from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and other nations. These meetings aimed to strengthen collaborative efforts in tackling corruption.
Tofig Musayev, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, was also present at the meetings, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s commitment to international anti-corruption initiatives.
