BAKU — Political analyst Azer Garayev has described the Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations as having ascended to a strategic level, marked by a significant treaty signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s recent state visit to Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
According to Trend News Agency, during the August 22 visit, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, President Aliyev and his Uzbek counterpart, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, endorsed a treaty on allied relations. This agreement symbolizes a peak in their bilateral relations, emphasizing robust cooperation across various sectors, including economic, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Mirziyoyev also expressed support for Azerbaijan’s reconstruction efforts in Karabakh, offering Uzbek participation in construction efforts.
Garayev highlighted the allied status between the two nations as a transformative step in their bilateral relationship, expecting it to bolster regional politics and contribute to the development of both countries. He noted that the visit saw the signing of multiple documents aimed at expanding cooperation, including the pivotal ‘Agreement on Allied Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan’. Additionally, a joint investment company with a capital of $500 million has been established to fund significant projects such as hotel construction, textile clusters, and garment factories.
