Bukhara: Presidents and First Ladies of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan visited the Poi-Kalyan Complex in Bukhara. On August 24, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva of Azerbaijan, alongside President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and First Lady Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva of Uzbekistan, explored the historic site with their family members.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Poi-Kalyan Complex, whose name translates to 'the pedestal of the Great,' is home to significant monuments including the Kalyan Minaret, which dates back to 1127. The complex is a testament to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Bukhara.

The Kalyan Mosque, another key feature of the complex, stands as the largest mosque in Bukhara. Built in the 16th century, the mosque is capable of accommodating up to 12,000 worshippers simultaneously. This architectural marvel highlights the historical significance and the grandeur of Islamic architecture in the region.

Within the Poi-Kalyan Complex also lies the Mir-i Arab Madrasah, a prominent religious educational institution constructed in the 16th century by Abdullah Yamani, known as Mir-i Arab. The madrasah continues to be an important center for religious education, reflecting the enduring legacy of educational and cultural development in Bukhara.
